Audrey Hinds (nee Luncheon): December 4, 1950 – May 1, 2024

Audrey Hinds was born in December 1950 in Kitty Village, Georgetown Guyana to the late Randolph Luncheon and Sybil Luncheon. Audrey was the fifth of their ten children; John aka Monty of Italy, Orin aka Neil of Atlanta, twins Roger of Guyana  and Joan of New York, Carol of New York, and Frank of Maryland, Peter and Pam of New York and Rawle aka Chris of England.  She was predeceased by Roger.

She completed Tutorial High School in Guyana and subsequently immigrated to the USA in 1968 to continue her education.  She attended Nursing School at the now defunct Jewish Hospital and Medical Center of Brooklyn. She went on to earn Bachelor’s degrees from Fordham University at Lincoln Center and New Jersey State College and Master’s degrees from Long Island College and the University of Pennsylvania. She completed all military education up to and including Command & General Staff College.  She worked at many hospitals in the New York City/New Jersey area and in many capacities as a nurse.  She later became a Nurse Practitioner and worked for Veterans Administration Hospitals and facilities in New Jersey and later Atlanta, Georgia until she retired from them.

She was previously married to Keith Compton Hinds with whom she had two sons.  She has 3 grandchildren including twins.  When she married Derek Stanton, several more children and grandchildren were brought into her expanded family.

In 1980, Audrey joined the United States Army Reserve where she served for 30 years.  She was called up for active duty on multiple occasions serving during the Balkan conflict and during the Iraqi & Afghanistan wars. She served in Kosovo and Macedonia during the Yugoslavian conflict.  She saw duty in Ecuador, Panama, Honduras, and Germany.  She also served stateside at Fort Dix, at the Office of the Surgeon General of the Army and the Warrior Transition Command, Audrey loved the Army. Her military and civilian awards were testimony to the impact she had in both her military and civilian careers.  She was awarded the Legion of Merit upon her retirement as a Colonel from the Army. She loved travelling domestically and to foreign countries

Audrey loved people and tried to help wherever she could.  Audrey lived by the standard that we make a living by what we get, but we make a life but what we give.
