A taxi driver was early Thursday morning found bound and gagged outside a house in Enmore, East Coast Demerara.
The name of the dead man is Ravindra Puran. He was 40 years old. Police sources said that his body bore marks of violence.
Family members say he left his home at Diamond, East Bank Demerara around 9 PM to work. He never returned, prompting family members to report him missing to the police.
An all-station alert was issued, resulting in a response that a body had been found at Enmore. A newspaper vendor spotted the corpse and alerted the occupants of the house at 71 Red Road, Logwood, Enmore.
Neighbors said they do not know the man who is of East Indian descent and appeared to be in his 40s. Investigators were up to mid-morning interviewing occupants of the house near where the body was discovered by residents around 6 AM.
The man’s hands were tied with a belt and duct tape, his mouth gagged with a belt and his feet tied with a white lace.
Neighbors said they heard no sounds late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning prior to the body being seen. Investigators believed the man might have been killed elsewhere and his body dumped there.
