The 2012 Guyana Airways Corporation Employee Reunion, was held in New York on August 31. Over 100 former employees, family and friends attended the event to celebrate the staff, brand of excellence and legacy that was Guyana Airways, the flagship airline of Guyana.
Festivities were held at Russo’s on the Bay and got off to a memorable start with a slide show of the storied history of the airline. Photographs of flight crew, consultants, ground crew, engineers and administrative staff were displayed along with pictures of the airport in its earliest days, many of the planes that carried the Guyana flag, award presentations and dignitaries including President Arthur Chung Prime Minister Forbes Burnham.
The many pictures of the flight attendants also provided a fashion show of the times, as the uniform changed over the years. One thing that did not change was just how smart and professional the staff always looked.
Laughter and exclamations of joy could be heard throughout the evening as old friends became reacquainted, and shared fond memories and new friendships were forged, as former co-workers introduced spouses and significant other into the Guyana Airways family.
Cocktail hour was followed by a warm welcome from organizing committee member Monika Mittelhőlzer and then silence was observed as the Reverend Adunnola Waterman French said a prayer of thanks. From then the festivities really heated up as the dance floor was opened and reunion attendees showed they still know how to have a great time.
The GAC Reunion committee comprised of Donna Johnson, Deborah Dover, Floyd Perry and Monika Mittelhőlzer who were given rapturous applause for their efforts. The event was flawless production with fine food, drinks, music. All in attendance agreed that the Guyana Airways reunion of 2012 had a perfect take-off and landing and look forward to the next flight.

Kudos to the organizers, it was a fantastic event.I would like to suggest having the next one Memorial weekend 2014 in Maryland. I know of a great location, so let us start planning from now. The cut off for payment will be April and not May as you know how some folks like to procrastinate. It was the event of the year!
