On Saturday December 6, 2014 at the L.B. Scott Auditorium in Phillipsburg, Sint Maarten, Elton Dharry, Guyanese born boxer fighting out of the USA will be taking on Nicaraguan Jose Rios in a 12 round fight for the vacant IBF Bantamweight Championship.
Elton Dharry Born in Leguan, Guyana, moved to the USA in 1999 and now resides in Brooklyn, he boxed in the U.S. Nationals and represented Guyana in the 2004 Olympic qualifiers. Dharry started his professional career by taking fights on short notice against top flight competition and went the distance with present WBC world super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz. Dharry. His dogged determination and meticulous fight preparation over time has resulted in thirteen straight victories and is now set to take on the biggest test of his career in Jose Rios.
Nicaraguan Jose Rios, who fought his way up to the top at home and on June 13, 2013 captured the Nicaraguan Bantamweight title by knocking down Carlos Osorio twice on his way to unanimous decision victory. In his most recent bout Rios defended his Nicaraguan title with a ten round unanimous decision victory over Frederick Castro. Rios knows if he is to get a chance a world title he must win against the best and jumped at the chance to fight against Elton Dharry for the IBF Inter-Continental title.

“Jose is a tough fighter. I have seen him fight (on tape) and he is very aggressive.” “My trainer Martin Gonzalez and I have gone over his fights. He is an aggressive fighter that throws a lot of punches. He is the Nicaraguan champion and recently defended his title on October 24th. I am in excellent shape and it will be an exciting fight.”
“For the people who are going to see me fight on Saturday, you will definitely get your money’s worth,” continued Dharry. “I expect a lot of support there. I have a lot of fans from my home in Guyana and Sint Marten is about an hour away.”
