Aubrey Mann, singer, songwriter, producer, director, and businessman was born in Georgetown, British Guiana now Guyana. Aubrey was raised by his mother “Sheila Mansfield-Grenardo” one of the nation’s top sopranos with several music awards to her credit, the most prestigious being the “Medal of Service” the highest honor a civilian could receive. His stepfather was the legendary soccer star “Compton Julian”. Aubrey Attended both Kingston Methodist and Kitty Methodist public Schools, Indian Educational Trust College and Tutorial High School.

Aubrey was singing from as young as he could remember, around the house as a child, in the church choir, and at school concerts but his professional career began in 1968, with the band “Cosmonauts”. He soon progressed as the lead singer of the band “Curtis & the MG’s before joining the very popular band ”Des Glasford’s Combo 7”. This was the begining of what was to be a prolific career in music, stage & theatre. For six years Aubrey’s name was always mentioned among the very top singers of his era and even his peers but in 1974, he moved to Barbados seeking greener pastures and got a lot more than he’d bargained for. The Barbadian public immediately embraced him, they simply adored him, and adopted him making him one of their own. Something Aubrey is extremely proud of. Aubrey became the lead singer of the local band “Lunar 7” and together they recorded his very first single just three months after arriving. That record “I Can’t Make It Alone” became a huge hit with Barbadians and people from the neighbouring Caribbean Islands. He represented Barbados in New York and Boston for their independence celebrations in November 1974.

In 1975, while living in Barbados the Calypso King of the world “The Mighty Sparrow” invited Aubrey to join his touring troupe right after Aubrey had opened for him at the Globe cinema and he did. Aubrey also headlined at several of major the hotels on the Island as a solo artist.

In 1979 Mann released one of his biggest hit songs, Stealing Love On The Side” on the Scorpio record label. This song sold 2.5 million copies worldwide and 35 years later it still has dance floors packed whenever it is played.

By 1980 Aubrey was the opening act for a multitude of groups and was inducted into the Rogues Gallery Hall of Fame at the O’Keefe Centre now the Sony Centre in Toronto and was nominated as top male singer in Canada. The following year Aubrey won that coveted award as well as the, “Come Back of the Year Award”. Later that same year, Aubrey was honored with the S.E.M.P. Award in a ceremony in New York City for the most requested album of the year. The popularity of the album gave Aubrey the opportunity to host a television show out of Toronto called, “West Indian Showcase”. Aubrey’s career exploded and he continuously toured and performed at sold-out concerts all over the world. His tremendous success spanned over seventeen years until he changed gears and created his high-energy show/dance group “Reflections” in 1987.

While performing as a headline act at the legendary “Club Blue Note” in Toronto, Aubrey brought together two other R&B singers to make his new group “Reflections”. This powerful and soulful group led Aubrey to another, even bigger creation called “Soul To Soul”. Aubrey created, produced, directed and performed in this show for the Government of Ontario in the mid-nineties. This led to Aubrey’s next mega-production, “An Evening At The Apollo”. Since 1999 to the present, this fantastic, energetic show has been touring and performing in theatres, at concerts, award shows, charity balls, and corporate functions.

For the past fifteen years, Aubrey has been touring, performing, and thrilling audiences with his “Love Man Band” and his two powerful, exciting and very entertaining shows “An Evening At The Apollo” and “Reflections” to sold-out audiences in theatres, at concerts, award ceremony shows, corporate functions, charity galas, exclusive private parties and onboard some of the world’s largest cruise ships. “The Love Man” as he’s affectionately called by his adoring fans has recently released his latest CD “Forty Years Of Love & Soul”. This CD is a masterpiece! It’s a collection of ten very soulful r&b hits from the past four decades plus two very smooth and lyrical original soulful love songs “It’s Never Been The Same” & “We’ll Still Be Making Love On The Side”. Anyone who loves soul music must have “Forty Years Of Love & Soul” in their musical collection.
