Government of the United Kingdom, February 10, 2014 – Latest update: Summary – reports of threats relating to Caribbean Airlines flights

On 9 February 2014 the US issued a security message to US citizens in Guyana following an unconfirmed threat relating to Caribbean Airlines flights destined for the United States departing from 10-12 February 2014. People wishing to travel using Caribbean Airlines to the United States during this time may wish to make alternative travel arrangements.

Most visits to Guyana are trouble-free.

Crime levels are high. You should take sensible precautions to protect yourself and your belongings. See Crime.

There have been robberies on the road to the international airport in Georgetown at night. Cars have been stopped at gun point, and false police roadblocks have been set up. You should avoid travelling on this road at night. See Crime.

There is a low threat from terrorism. See Terrorism.
