Today the Embassy of Guyana in Washington DC participated in the 8th Annual Embassy Showcase Winternational at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington DC.
Along with over 50 participating Embassies Guyana stood out in spectacular fashion with an array of crafts, samples of our Guyanese cuisine including black cake and fudge provided by Guyanese caterer and entrepreneur Loraine Newton owner of Taste of the Caribbean restaurants, informational materials and a video highlighting Guyana's best attributes. Of course, no Guyanese showcase can be considered complete without highlighting the famous El Dorado rum and Indi Curry Powder. Embassy staff and others manning the booth were warm, courteous and engaging and provided visitors with the hospitality for which Guyanese are known worldwide.
The event was well attended with barely enough room for the visitors sampling goodies and learning about cultures from around the world. Guyana’s booth was so well received it was featured with our own Embassy staff member Ms. Ann Rice whose photo made it on Washington DC Fox 5 TV. Another job well done by Ambassador Insanally and staff.
