Kingston koker door broken and high tide is flooding area

The Koker in Kingston, Georgetown is broken and the high tide is flooding the surrounding area.

People living in the area should move and secure their belongings to prevent flood damage.


The Koker in Kingston, Georgetown is broken and the high tide is flooding the surrounding area.

People living in the area should move and secure their belongings to prevent flood damage.

@ 9.20 pm the tide is receding but is expected to crest @ 5:21 am on Wednesday morning. It looks as if the Ministry of Works team will be on site all night to manually block and open the Koker until a more permanent solution is in place.

    Bryan Max reported: President Ramotar was earlier at the scene of the damaged Koker and Mr. Robeson Benn and Clement Rohee was currently on site. The workers were installing planks in the Koker opening to mitigate the flooding.

    Just in from Bryan Max: Planks installed by Ministry of Works team has slowed the flow of water and the tide will be retreating shortly.
    Main street and surrounding area has a considerable amount of water.
